Testimonials

“We have found the performance of the system to be quite satisfying and user friendly. We are currently running low level O2 uptake experiments and are impressed with the sensitivity of the instrument.”

“I have found the performance of the Challenge AER-200 to be unmatched. The precise measurement of oxygen consumption, homogenous mass transfer of test materials, and constant and consistent operating temperature have enabled me to obtain extremely accurate test results, particularly as compared to other respirometer systems. I find the Challenge system to be extremely user friendly.”

Assessing Nutrient Deficiencies

Assessing Nutrient Deficiencies Graph

The Challenge AER-200 respirometer system is ideally suited for assessing the occurrence of nutrient deficiencies as illustrated in the figure below. In this case various amounts of a mixture of nutrients and trace minerals were added to different respirometer vessels that received 25 mL of wastewater plus seed organisms. The resulting oxygen uptake reactions show increasing oxygen uptake with additional nutrients and minerals until adequate concentrations were reached. Additional tests revealed that the sample was deficient in calcium. These tests also show that several hours of incubation may be required to show the full effect of a nutrient deficiency sample OUR profiles.
