Tack Coat Shear Fixture
A testing fixture for evaluating tack shear characteristics on 150mm or 100mm diameter asphalt cores.
Innovative design
- Designed to test tack coat shear strength on 150mm or 100mm asphalt cores
- Designed for use in a variety of standard compression testing machines, including the Marshall
- Test load frames, that will accept a maximum height of 10 inches
- Allows for 1 inch of shear travel and uses ¾ inch aluminum, fixed and free shear plates
- Shear plates are relieved vertically and horizontally to reduce stress concentration at loading points
How it works
- Each shear plate has 4 guide blocks, to assist with sample alignment
- The fixture base is constructed from ¾ inch aluminum plate with base dimensions of 8-3/4 x 9 inches and an overall height of 10 inches
- Shear plates have a ¼ inch gap between shear surfaces to accommodate average surface irregularities
- A pre-load frame is included with calibrated spring tension for 10 and 20 PSI pre-load testing
- Pre-load roller bearing design maintains constant pre-load pressure while minimizing pre-load friction effects from the pre-load frame
